Mixed results for Kenya in CAF assignments

Kenyan representatives in the CAF competitions, Gor Mahia and Sofapaka registered mixed results in the first leg of the preliminary round played over the weekend in Nairobi.

Gor Mahia, who are representing the country in the CAF Champions League registered a nervy 1-0 win over CNAPS of Madagascar on Saturday 14 February. Returnee Victor Ali Abondo scored the all important goal in the 1st minute from the spot after striker Michael Olunga was felled in the box.

Sofapaka lose at home

On Sunday 14 February, Sofapaka who are featuring the CAF Confederations Cup lost 1-2 to visiting FC Platinum of Zimbabwe.

Platinum took a first half lead through Brian Muzondiwa who broke the dead lock in the 25th minute. Sofapaka however equalized two minutes after the second half kicked off through but Burundian international Fiston Abdoul Razak. The winner was scored in the 74th minute by Donald Ngoma.

The return leg for both matches will be played in a fortnight.
