“Panda Mbegu ubarikiwe!” Meaning “Plant a seed for you to be blessed!” just for the sake of our readers
in non-swahili speaking countries. I don’t know about the rest of Africa,
maybe someone out there should tell me but in Kenya, it is something you hear
almost everywhere; in the bus, on T.V., radio, Church, street, parks and now at
the Likoni Ferry.
So many people have learnt to dislike these words and
associate them with all kinds of allegation. With advance in technology, now
there are many means to deliver the “sadaka” to the respective places including
mobile money transfer services
such as m-pesa, airtel money, yu cash and Orange. The other day a church in Nairobi introduced wireless money through Swiping your ATM or VISA enabled card to make your offering. However, we seem to have two divisions, those for it and those against it.

Whether this idea has been misused or some people using it
for personal gains, there are things for you as a young Christian to learn
about this;
Giving is a principle indicated in the Bible. The Bible
indicates so many ways in which we should give and it is important for you to
know that whoever is telling you not to give is a liar. Giving is a principle
and should be a way of life. We get more through giving. If you are not giving
your tithes, you are opening doors for the destroyer (devourer) to come and
destroy your finances by digging holes in your pocket. We should also share our
blessings with others in the society including the less privileged. When you
give, it will come back to you, good measures, pressed down, shaken together
and running over. Learn to give and to be a giver. Givers never lack. When you
give you are investing in God’s Kingdom. Make sure your tithes go to where you
fellowship, your church and not to an orphanage or online church. But you are
free to choose where to give but give with love.
Lastly, avoid this danger! Please don’t criticize the
preachers who demand offerings. You have the choice to give or not. You don’t
need to give an opinion; it might hurt your life. There might be false prophets
out there but you are not sure who they are and God warns us not to point fingers,
as in touch not the anointed one. You might call curses upon your family and
children. When you curse them with words, God is a jealous God, he will avenge
on their behalf. Neither you nor I want to meet God’s wrath of vengeance. Save
yourself and the ones you love.
