A lot has been said about what a woman want. There has been a multitude of books written about it, movies made about it and even songs composed based on this concept. It is true that women are complex and some say not sure of what they really want. However, there are a few things that most women can agree on that they look for in a man, whether subconsciously or consciously. These are not in order of importance nor are they the only determinant traits, just some things the most standard ones.
1. Appearance
As much as the saying, don’t judge a book by its cover is true, women do actually judge a man by his initial appearance. You have to realize that in that first glance, the woman can’t really tell much about genuine or kind personality, just how a man looks and is dressed. Attractiveness will partly come from how well groomed you are. This means, hair, clothes, smell, and basic hygiene. If you don’t make an effort, then you are not worth the effort either.
2. Communication
Women are vocal creatures. They like talking, about their feelings, their days, their friends, issues, and a ton of other things. So, for a woman, a good conversation is very important. The ability for a man to maintain a conversation, while showing genuine interest is vital. In fact sometimes, it is possible to completely charm a woman by just being able to hold a decent conversation with her.
3. Good salary and job
As much as it is not very important these days, money really matters. As shallow as it might seem, women do look at pocket size to determine whether to pursue a man. This comes from the fact that women tend to look in future tense, can he provide for me and the children we might have? So, a man with a good enough job trumps one who is broke. Still, nowadays it is not so much a deciding factor but an added advantage.
4. Physical stature
Again, this might seem slightly shallow but size matters. A man’s height and weight are vital for most women and they notice them very fast. For most women, this factor is an immediate disqualification aspect. However, there is no standard weight or height; women are very different when it comes to this attribute. Mostly, they judge in accordance to their own height and weight or just preference.

Perhaps the most important quality that women look for is a good personality. There are a range of things that women look for, but mostly they look for a respectful and confident man. Most women like a well mannered, kind and respectful man, arrogance, cockiness, ignorance are all very big turn offs. There is also the confidence factor, humility is good but women like assertive men, not pushovers, for most that is a very unattractive trait. In the end though, it boils down to compatibility, there is no set characteristics kit.
